Using the latest beta on my 2019 Shield TV (Tube). Using the the new player with Hdmi passthrou (Sound), Resolution and Framerate switching on, the Player crashes. This only happens with 4K movies. MKV 4K Bluray Ripps with external srt subtitels and AC3. Player shows direct play.
Same happens when using the old player.
Only way to play is old player and using optical AC3 Passthrou without Framerate switching.
And even using the Player this way the movies stutter some times - not micro stutter because of 60hz. Stutter and freezes, becomes nearly respondable when trying to stopp the movie.
I’m experiencing the same problems with UHD movies on the tube version of Shield. I have the Synology NAS as well, but DS416Play. It’s the players’ fault though, it just crashes. have you tried DV? I think it might happen only with higher bitrate videos, but I’m not completely sure.
me too, but the lack of communication on this issue worries me. which tv do you have?
also, i think the problem is in both the old and the new player and related to high bitrate UHD videos on the Tube Shield. I haven’t found any posts mentioning the problem on the 3gb version. I can also play lower bitrate UHD movies without any crashes.
I am having the exact same issue on both my shield tubes…with the newest beta. My Shield 2019 Pro isnt having this issue. I start watching 4K hdr and it stutters a lot, then the ui completely stops working but the video will play, stuttering and skipping along. But it completely freezes up my shield. The video continues stumbling along but I cant stop it.
I contacted him also in private a couple of days ago but didn’t get a reply. this needs to be addressed asap, 7.24 is not usable on the Tube. the fault probably lies in less available memory and the client app settings will have to be tweaked. I just hope it’s not a complete deal breaker, but it would be great to get a reply while I can still return the device and buy the Pro version.
I experienced the same thing. I acquired the ShieldTV Tube on Day 1 and promptly returned it once I discovered it is 32bit only as well. The 2019 ShieldTV Pro does not crash playing 4K HDR10 content.
wait what do you mean it’s 32 bit only? the architecture of the tegra chip should be the same, and if anything, 32 bit will consume less memory than 64bit.
