8.24.0.28158 - Transcode to AC3 broken (optical)

So there’s a newer one than yours, give that a spin maybe

Still broken…

Was just about to try it myself… do you need any more logs, @sixones ?

To stay with the last working version (28030), you can just self-sign the apk to disable any updates through the playstore. Then uninstall plex, and sideload your self-signed apk. It’s not super-easy, but the only solution right now for me:

Thanks much. Appreciate the tip. :vulcan_salute:

Would be good to know your setup, are you using ARC and relying on the optical passthrough option to limit codecs?

If you can also grab the logs from the newest beta that would be handy. The previous logs were from a version that had an issue and was fixed in the next beta.

Working for me now via spidf

Well, the AV receiver is an Onkyo TX-SR507, which only does HDMI1.3… so no ARC. Which is why I need to run an optical link in parallel

Anyhow, with 8.25.0.28514-beta everything seems to be back in order. EAC3 gets transcoded to AC3, and DTS is passed through just fine. Thanks for looking into this matter!

Must of not use the new beta last time. :man_facepalming:
Plex for Android 8.25.0.28514-beta
Fixed it for me.

Any news when it will be fixed?

Using version 8.25.0.28578 on a Sony TV and transcoding over optical out is working again for me.

How do you update to the working version?
I have 8.24.1.28493

I needed to enter the beta program via this link. Then you’ll be upgraded. When the features gets passed to the non-beta version you can use the same link to leave the beta program.

if this is true, does this mean we could eventually see TRUEHD to EAC3 transcoding for Chromecast with Google TV devices?
