A little lost

I am very new to Plex (just signed up + purchased Prime today). I already have HDHomeRun. I am unsure how to get the two to talk. I was under the impression that I can set up Plex to see HDHomeRun and stream my local channels thru Plex as well as use it as a DVR. Plex server continues to spin saying trying to find server. Can someone help? TIA

Ok still need help. Got everything set up but now the Plex app on my FireTV doesn’t find the server. Dont know what else to do. Please help

I use the android app on the shield tv and it is a little different from that on fire; sometimes you have to click on the server icon (a settings drop down for you, I think) and actually select the name of your server.

Have you downloaded and installed the Plex Server. It’s available from here https://www.plex.tv/downloads/

you need to have the server installed onto a PC or a NAS box. This interfaces between the client on your fireTV and manages the HDHomeRun. Give that a try and report back!

Thanks everyone, was able to finally set up my laptop as the server but now I get indirect access or something like that - so live tv horrible and in the plex media player it says remote access not available outside of network.
