A show has the wrong square art

The asian show “all of us are dead" have some unrelated square art. It’s not possible to choose an alternative.

Thanks for reporting. We’re looking into it.

The live action One Piece also has a bunch of square art from the anime show.

Honestly, this feels like wack-a-mole. Really wish the community could control or help with this. IMO, its a bad design module, especially with a reduced number of staff, they should be working on real items and not artwork issues.

That’s really a nice description of the problem and it would be great if the community could help resolve some of these problems beyond just reporting them. Imagine if we, the community, had some way of triggering a cleanup of these nagging multiple TVDB entries that never seem to get resolved. Heck, this was reported for House of Ashur like 5 months ago and still hasn’t been fixed. You reported another show today. Do you have any faith it will get fixed?

The main issue is the extremely low quality source (gracenote). Even when the Square Art is correct it’s usually dreadful. Even when there are more to chose from, they all usually looks very bootleggy. It has completely ruined the look of the mobile app.

Very strange decision to use this aspect ratio and null and void curated artwork that already existed. Especially with everything else going on with Plex right now.

Couldn’t agree more. The whole square art thing feels like a fad and something akin to a hackathon / proof of concept / test the waters to see how it goes.

Whats even worse, which I’ve not see any update on, is long term where plex see the design being when you move outside of portrait mode over to landscape, which is the natural way to use a tablet. I get folks browse and review rather than view their plex content on mobile phone but when you go to tablet this whole square art background is nonsense.

Exactly. It doesn’t feel thought out at all.

Additionally to what you said, there are also other weird things that I haven’t seen addressed either:

Why is there only one image to pick from in most of the cases? It makes the “picker” useless and by itself makes this experience awful. It should have been a high priority to have several options to pick from. They pay for these artworks after all.

And, why are there items that completely lacks a square art at all? These strange artworks are obviously not going to get any community backing, so why isn’t there a plan set in place with gracenote for obscure items?

The whole thing seems incredibly incomplete.
