Does anybody know where Plex sources it's Square Art from?

I’d like to add some to the database, but am unsure which site is preferred.

I’ve just asked the same thing. Didn’t see this post

Sorry mate. Marked mine as resolved so hopefully yours gets answered. To add to yours - FanArt.TV has a “square art” option, and plex seems to use FanArt.TV, but I cannot find the websites that plex is grabbing it’s existing square-art from.

That’s okay.

Yep, there are some square art images I can use at fanart.tv.

Thanks!

Just note that fanart.tv specifies that title text can/should be used on the image, this is not recommended for our apps as we already use logos for titles over the art.

I’m not sure where the best place is right now to contribute this is but I’ll bring it up with our team.

Currently I think all our square art is coming from Gracenote, which does not support community submissions.

Thanks

Text on the image is a no go

Yep, it would look really bad.

I’ve started some dialog internally about this and will see what we can do.

Thank you for your efforts. I’ll stick to doing it locally, hopefully in the future I’ll be able to upload my contributions.

Can there be some sort of setting to just set the background image as the sqaure art if you don’t like whatever ones are available? Typically there’s only 1 or 2 per film and I haven’t liked any of the choices so far. They seem to be just textless cropped posters mainly, versus an actual shot from the film like most backgrounds are. I don’t care that that setting would crop the background pic it’s much better than the current options.

FWIW, you don’t need to manually crop them, the app will automatically do that. You’d only need to crop them if the section you want isn’t the center.

I know. But sometimes, you have to crop the graphics if the motif is right aligned.
