AAC 5.1 is not working at Plex while it does work at KODI, so is nothing wrong with my amplifier (Denon AVR-X520BT). Plex sends Stereo audio, while KODI does send 5.1.
Please advise.

Is this support for Plex? After 4 days no answer at all?
I do not really need paid features but I did subscribe because believe should support creators effort. Plex is a great software but without support doesn’t worth that much.
I use AAC 5.1 all the time on my shield that is connected to my receiver. I would make sure your Android audio settings on shield itself are correct, and enable passthrough in the app if you have not. Also if not, connect shield to receiver so Shield>Receiver>TV, not Shield>TV>Receiver
In screenshot is it direct playing AAC 5.1 and the top right is the signal info from my reciever. 3/2/0.1 which is the 3 “front” channels ( Left Right Center), the 2 side surround channels and the 0.1 is the subwoofer
and a AAC 7.1 file with 3/4/0.1
You have been helpful. Thanks for your time.
The issue was that receiver was auto switching to Multi Channel Stereo instead of Direct, while in cat of AC3, DTS, etc was switching properly.

Hi BigWheel. Sorry to disturb you but I have the same issue as reported on this post. You say there that you have no problems with AAC 5.1 and the Shield. My Shield is the latest version connected to AV receiver (yamaha rx-v6a) and then to the TV. The shield audio properties are set pretty much to default (surround decode to ON with auto formats). The AV receiver is set to straight I see DD decoder but with only front channels. If I use the plex player from the Samsung tizen TV the audio correctly is dolby 5.1 (I don’t know if plex transcodes in that case). With the shield other videos with ac3 dolby are just fine, only aac 5.1 have the problem. plex player on the shield is set to hdmi passthrough. If I set no sorround decode on the shield I see PCM on the Yamaha with 5.1 channels but it’s not really dolby it’s just a 5.1 stereo alike. Any clues? Thank you.
what are your passthrough settings in the app?
hi! thanks for the reply. actually I worked on it this afternoon and disabled surround decoding on the shield and I guess that it’s all working fine because I see exactly what you got on your screenshots. only thing is that the av receiver for aac 5.1 sound and probably others now only types PCM as audio decoder but all the 5.1 channels are going properly actually. I was expecting to see like dolby digital or something. if you think this is normal then all is operational. the plex player is hdmi passthrough and audio options on the shield are “surround disable” and “match content audio resolution”. what do you think?
You should set to “auto” or whatever your receiver actually supports.
I mean “dolby audio processing” is disabled while “available formats” is auto.
AAC is passed to the receiver as PCM.
If you are seeing PCM 5.1 when playing AAC 5.1 audio, then it is working correctly.
As far as I know that only converts audio DD+ (eac3) to Regular DD (ac3) for older receivers. it should be off
