I have a Plex Media Server on my Seagate Personal Cloud (NAS) and while it occasionally has issues, it generally works very well when accessing the library from my various devices (TVs, Roku, Android, etc).
However, I created several home video playlists and the poster and background art that I previously saved to each playlist has disappeared. Further, when I edit a playlist, there is no longer an option to change the poster and background art. There is simply a “General” option to change the name and add a decription of the playlist, but no other editing options as before.
I am using Version 1.5.2.3557 on my Personal Cloud. FYI, I also have a Plex Cloud Library and also a library on my Mac Desktop (up-to-date running El Capitan v. 10.11.6). The Playlist Background and Poster Art editing options are no longer in these libraries either.
**Have these custom art editing options been eliminated for Playlists or is there a setting that I am missing that will add these editing options back? **
Thank you to the community and Seagate for any insight that you provide.
I too, have a similar problem… same Plex version(1.5.2.3557) same NAS (Seagate Personal Cloud) and same IOS (El Capitan v. 10.11.6) Before update I had 2 choices of episode poster artwork: 1 black and white option and 1 color option , now only 1 color option and it doesn’t match my show (I have the Black and White Versions of Bewitched Seasons 1 and 2).
In music playlists it seems that a compilation of covers are used when constituted by only few albums.
I have one playlist with some 1,800 tracks (perhaps 180 albums) and there is no cover. Another with some 120 tracks (12 albums?) has the same problem, though I have other longer playlists with covers. It’s unclear what might be the problem.
In any case, it would seem proper if one with playlists would be able to manually select covers.
+1 on ability to add custom poster image to a playlist. Really helps for movie collections that you want to watch in recommended order, rather than release date order, such as MCU. You can change the poster for a Plex Collection of such movies, but you can’t customize the movie order inside the collection. Instead you have to create a Plex Playlist based on the preferred watch order, but you can’t change the poster image for that playlist.
It would be great to have images for playlists to watch films in custom orders, I have a poster of top 100 films and like to order them in the order they’re in on the poster as well as watching Star Wars or MCU films in order of canon timelines instead of release dates.
I find it maddening that I can’t chose an image for a playlist.
I’m working through my CD collection and avoiding duplicating tracks so the playlist cover often ends up as clumsy collage of images rather than the one from the album itself (consider a greatest hits collection as a good example).
Add me to the list. It drives me crazy not being able to post a picture for a playlist. It should be something that is simple considering what you can do with the new COLLECTIONS.
