Please add this feature. I just made a Christmas collection of my favorite tv show Christmas episodes and was excited to feature drunk Santa and Rick from Ricky & Morty as my thumbnail.

I have been denied the ability and donā€™t think Iā€™ll be able to enjoy Christmas any longer henceforth until this absolutely necessary feature is included. But Iā€™ll hold out hope that as great as the plex developers are, theyā€™ll get the job done.rickandmorty-rick-homeless-santa

Please? Especially now itā€™s no longer possible for Android Auto to use the Artist secrion I rely on Playlists.

Hi, I figured out a way to add cover to the playlist.

  1. if you have multiple mp3 files you want to put into the playlist. Use mp3tag (free program) to add the image to one of the mp3 file.
  2. In the plex, before you build the playlist. Do ā€œscan library fileā€, sometime I need to change the mp3 file name slightly to make cure plex pick up the change.
  3. build the playlist as you normally do. It should show up the cover image you added in mp3tag.

Your idea seems to be a good start but I ran into an issue. I changed a song name, added a photo tag for that song, scanned, and successfully made a playlist of one song with the chosen photo. But-- when I added 3 more songs, the playlist poster was split into 4 little pictures, as it added 3 little pictures associated with the other 3 songs. I tried altering the first 4 songs to the same chosen photo, but the 5th, 6th and 7th songs again changed the poster of the playlist. I do not want to change the photo tag for every song because I want the songs with their original photos for other purposes, nor do I want to make two versions of every song. Was there something else you did to get around this? Thanks.

WHY was this not implemented alongside custom art for collections?! Iā€™m trying SO hard not to bail on months of transitioning over from Kodi but COME ON! I canā€™t add playlist artwork? It appears this would be such a SIMPLE thing to implement as itā€™s already been setup for collections. Why do collections have an option in the UI to write an upload poster value to ā€œuser_thumb_urlā€ but not playlists? What am I missing?

This is such a disappointment. Collections are not a replacement for playlists when it comes to music! Plexamp has so much potential but Iā€™m too UI driven of a person to be ok with 4 random, constantly changing cover images visually representing various playlists.

Itā€™s been three years since this was mentioned. Unless Iā€™m missing some element, it doesnā€™t appear to represent any significant changes in the SQLite table structure, rather just a couple simple lines of code to be copy and pasted, from the collections tab on the web UI to the playlists tab.

Unless someone can weigh in on why this ā€œfeatureā€ being added is more complex then it appears, Iā€™m going to assume itā€™s not, and head on back to Kodi where we at least have access to make changes ourselves/perhaps try emby.

I may try manually inserting values into the database tables to try to hack my way into a solution here before I go. If I do, and it works Iā€™ll report back to everyone else who voted into the abyss of customer dissatisfaction as well. At the very least, and basic explanation of the challenges holding this back would be appreciatedā€¦
