Now that Christmas is behind us, I’m seriously regretting adding almost 200 Christmas-themed songs to my Plex library as they’re now interspersed into things like Library Radio and music library shuffle.
In iTunes, you have the ability to exclude individual songs from shuffle by ticking a “Skip when shuffling” option on a track. It’d be great to have this functionality in Plex, not only for Christmas music, but also for things like comedy/spoken word albums, which aren’t really suited to being shuffled alongside music.
Agreed - as a suggestion to help implement this - perhaps there could be a more robust default “Stations” section, that align with the popular streaming services - such as Pop, Hip Hip, Rock, Soul, Holiday, Etc. Currently, the Station section is too broad to actually play what you want to listen to, especially if you have a massive library
Given there are new ways to listen Library Radio in Plexamp with Sonic Analysis, we need ways to exclude tracks, albums, etc. Of course this applies to Holiday music as well. I’m a music teacher, so some of my instructional material can get mixed in.
Request: Add a yes/no checkbox option to “Skip when shuffling” when shuffling music. Also have the option be able to be applied to entire artists or albums, or multiple selected items at once.
This means that when shuffling, either the entire library, or just a playlist or whatever, that this would automatically be skipped.
I’d like to throw in for this and/or skip in library (or other) radio. The problem is that there are songs I like and rate highly, but they are too long or not right for shuffle. (Ex: I like prog rock but I don’t want a 20+ minute song popping up on my library radio. Or if I have multiple masters/versions and I only want one to pop up.)
Update needed on building the Smart Playlist. Only that the URL syntax has more escaped characters and the sort option is longer.
I added the genre “NoShuffle” to the tracks and excluded that genre from my playlist.
Building a Smart Collection using stats like skip count or duration allows you to see the more undesirable tracks that you may want to exclude. Using a Collection instead of Playlist allows us to edit tracks from within the collection. Make changes then delete the Smart Collection.
In iTunes/Apple Music, every song has a checkbox. If unchecked, the song never gets played unless directly invoked.
There’s been tons of solutions like hijacking the rating system and creating wild filters. This isn’t 100% effective. And removing items from your library isn’t what people want either.
For example, there’s a soundtrack that I love listening to, but one track on it isn’t my favorite. Sometimes I wanna hear it. But most of the time, I want to skip it.
Also, I have probably a dozen Christmas albums. I don’t wanna hear them in June. But I would prefer to have them in my main library, not in a separate one.
This could be so easily done with a basic boolean flag and a small bit of logic to determine if it’s playable (if playable?).
It would be great to have this implemented into Plex Web as well to manage tracks in bulk.
