Ability to play a Blu Ray archive file with menus (not sure that it is even possible technically)

Would there be a way in Plex to be able to play an archive Blu Ray format that would then play the Blu Ray “as if” it was the original disc with all features and menu included ?

I don’t know if such a format exist anymore and if it is possible to do such a thing. I just wanted to have your opinion.

Because encoding ALL my Blu Ray + extras seems a very long process. Just at of curiosity: some people here have been down that road already ??

Z.

Plex doesn’t stream disc formats (since they aren’t streaming formats). You also need the official Blu-Ray approval in order to get menus, java, etc - so I doubt very seriously that this will ever happen.

As far as I know, there is only one currently developed player for a BD disc, and that’s PowerDVD. TMT was my go to choice, but the developers dropped it a year or two ago. If you use Windows Media Center and the MyMovies plugin, you can use PowerDVD and TMT to fetch the BDMV folder content for playback (if and only if you disable Cinavia) and you will have menus and all the extras, but that’s not streaming. I’m sure there are/were other ways to fetch disc content other than using MCE + MyMovies, but that was the only one I ever used.
