It would be handy for setting things to record on the go, or just so I don’t have to get off the couch to refresh the Program Guide (although I have it set to do that automatically while my family’s asleep).

With supported clients you can access the DVR and schedule recordings and they continue to roll out new supported clients.
The program guide loads lots of data from the future and as you mentioned does so on its own are you sure you mean update the EPG?

Yes. I like setting my recordings in advance, and i’m aware of the ability to set my DVR recordings on my phone (which I do). The furthest day that the DVR lists (about 2 weeks from the current day) only has listings for up to 3am after it automatically refreshes the program guide during the maintenance period (which for me is 4am to 6am). I just want an in-app button that refreshes the program guide when you push it, so I can get more listings throughout the day.
