I watch a lot of anime, and am not a native Japanese speaker, however have changed my default options to select Japanese as my default audio source because of the fact that having dual-audio always gives me dubs (which I hate). However, when viewing movies with English & Japanese audio sources, it defaults to Japanese, even though I don’t necessarily want to watch in Japanese.
Additionally, there is no way to select (the correct variant) of English subtitles for my subbed anime by default, because each variant of subtitles is spotty on detection, and as a result if it’s detected that a subtitle set (which is often no subtitles at all) corresponds to English, then I have to change the set every time I start a new episode. Additionally, in the subs community there’s often multiple translation sets that you can download from multiple sources, as well as those embedded into the video file itself.
I would like to be able to select an audio source/subtitle set per show/season, so that I don’t have to constantly switch the options if my global defaults can’t cover it, and end up re-rendering a bunch of frames and its associated audio.
