Would be nice to be able to share a direct link to play a specific media item (episode, movie, song, etc.) It could link directly to the Plex Web interface, and prompt for authentication (if not already logged in). I was unable to find and previous request for this feature or any indication that it already exists. (The normal URL for Plex Web content includes the local IP/Domain and prevents external sharing.)

Similar to sharing a file in your personal dropbox (especially to non-dropbox users).
Found this post when looking to ask the same question… it appears that copying the URL when browsing your server through https://app.plex.tv (at a particular media page - show, movie, album, episode, song, etc.) and sharing that with someone who has a plex account and access to your server works perfectly (after signing in if they don’t already have an active browser session with plex.tv)… the URL isn’t pretty, but totally works.
