Ability to sideload thumbs (8.bif) and intro detection metadata with media

Ran a few searches and didn’t see this, apologies if I missed it.

Arguably, two of the most resource intense processes for Plex is intro detection and thumbnail generation. The latter can also balloon Plex metadata significantly.

My feature suggestion is an option to side load bifs (thumbnail bundles) and intro detection marker data with the media. In addition to not bloating the metadata, it would also mean for those with more than one Plex server would only need to generate these items once. Or in a scenario in which the Plex server has a non recoverable event and backups aren’t feasible to restore, it would mean not having to process all that video and audio again.

Option to store generated video preview thumbnails with media in subfolder

It would be nice if Plex had the option to store the generated media thumbnails with the media possibly in a subfolder. Personally, for me it would be nice, because I run unraid, and Plex lives on my cache drive which is an SSD. Mainly due to preview thumbnails my Plex install has ballooned to 120GB. It would be nice to get back the vast majority of that space on my SSD. It would also help if I ever had to restore my plex installation, because the preview thumbnails would be seperate, and my ba…

Manual Skip TV Show Intros // mod: add/edit intro markers

I am curious if there is a way the new Skip TV Show Intro can be improved to add a manual feature where you can provide say an XML or EDL file from a tool like MCEBuddy to manually define a TV Show intro. This would be handy for TV shows that do not automatically get detected by the new tool or for Shows that include a unique “Previously on” section at the beginning of the video. This would allow you to keep the “Previously on” part of the video but skip it while binge watching.

I suggest you comment/vote in those existing threads in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes (by having duplicate suggestion threads).
