Had a corrupt database, recently bought a brand new computer WAY faster and more powerful than the server was set up on.
Every user can now not access my server, is it possible to just scrap previous server all together and start over literally from scratch on the new computer?
Any special steps need to be taken? (dont need user watch states etc, will add all users again.)
So i have a good copy of the database, but i dont care about the movies and tv show episode info, im going to let the newer plex scanner re-do all those 100%,
Is it possible to copy over all my users “saved state, watched info” etc, for tv shows they are in the middle of a season episode they last left off of, movies and tv shows they HAVE watched, dont care about anything else but those… (many many years of those… lol gonna have some irate old ladies if i cant lol)
Two steps. The first step copies info from the old to new server. The second step keeps things in sync whether media is watched from either server (or from Plex online sources).
This exports the information from the first server and imports it to the second.
It includes view progress for partially watched items.
IMPORTANT: The document is out of date. You should use the Plex version of SQLite that ships with Plex Media Server. The Repair a Corrupted Database support article shows where the Plex SQLite tool is installed.
Second, enable Sync Watch State & Ratings for your account. Have your users enable it on their accounts as well.
Note: Does not sync partial watch status (ex: 30 min through a 2 hr movie). Also, not supported for Managed Users.
