Available Episode Order - To Help Switch shows in playlists

Available Episode Order would be helpful in sorting, especially in smart playlists. Availale Episode Order (AEO) is shown below. Assume the episodes listed below are the only episodes on the server:

  • Show A Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 1)
  • Show A Season 1 Episode 4 (AEO 2)
  • Show A Season 1 Episode 5 (AEO 3)
  • Show A Season 2 Episode 1 (AEO 4)
  • Show B Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 1)
  • Show B Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 2)
  • Show B Season 2 Episode 1 (AEO 3)

This would allow shows to be interleaved appropriately in smart playlists and would be a very easy way to replicate a lot of the functionality of solutions like pseudotv natively in smart playlists. Sorting by AEO would produce the following:

  • Show A Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 1)
  • Show B Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 1)
  • Show A Season 1 Episode 4 (AEO 2)
  • Show B Season 1 Episode 2 (AEO 2)
  • Show A Season 1 Episode 5 (AEO 3)
  • Show B Season 2 Episode 1 (AEO 3)
  • Show A Season 2 Episode 1 (AEO 4)

If episodes are added, this would be recalculated on the fly. This would allow things like having a Saturday morning cartoon playlist that showed only one episode from each show at a time, regardless of when they were originally aired. Combined with a filter for episode plays, this could be a good solution for picking up where you left off.

My immediate use case for this would be a Saturday morning playlist for showing different Hanna Barbera cartoons one episode at a time: one episode of Scooby-Doo, Space Ghost, Super Friends, Dynomutt, Captain Caveman, etc. then repeat.
