Absolute file numbering but sorted into seasons?

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
I’ve just finished cleaning out my anime library and upgrading it to the new plex agent/scanner after using HAMA/ASS for years. I’ve nearly sorted everything out but have on issue remaining.

For some very large series - Gintama & One Piece - which are named in absolute order. I’ve lost all the season sorting that ASS did for me, and now they all show up in Season 1. I tried to edit the advanced properties of these shows in plex to use:
Seasons: Show
Episode Ordering: TheTVDB (Absolute)

Unfortunately this doesnt work and everything is still showing under season 1 for both shows. For some weird reason, One Peice, stayed sorted into seasons for a couple days after upgrading the library, but suddenly got re-organized earlier today.

Any ideas? It’s not fun trying to scroll through 900+ eps on some devices.

If you use absolute ordering, there are actually no seasons.
Since Plex has no concept of a tv show without seasons, it will put all episodes within season one as a workaround.

If you want to see seasons in plex for this show, you need to select one of the “episode orderings” which actually has seasons. And rename your files accordingly.

Thanks for the response Otto,
Is there any way to change the scanner for just these two shows?

No. All you can do is selecting the episode ordering per show.
If you’re dreading the renaming process, take a look at Filebot and similar tools.
