Access Plex media on local server from Amazon Echo (Alexa)?

Server Version#:1.22.0.4163 (On Synology NAS)

Reading the article on how to setup Alexa to be able to play local NAS media via plex “skill”, it starts with describing how to setup for external (web0 access to the Plex server.

My server is on a local protected LAN (behind two layers of Firewalls), but is on the same network as the amazon Echo devices.

Thus I do not have global external Internet access to the server - but can the Alexa skill access things from a plex server on the same local network?

It depends on if the skill goes back to some external global amazon servers, or if it can access from the local device.

Echo device commands are executed in the cloud not local. So without external access it wont be able to access your server.

I have tried those various solutions to play music on my Echos and they each have issues.
Its too bad Amazon stopped offering cloud music storage.
