Can't get Plex to work with Alexa

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#: Latest Plex skill

I recently bought and setup a new Terramaster F4-210 NAS which has a Plex server app.

Everything works fine with Plex on my TV, Freeview box and Amazon Fire TV 4k Stick and I can access Plex on a web browser, but I cannot get it to work with my Amazon Echo devices.

When I ask “Plex to open” or for “Plex to play xxxx” it just says my Plex server appears to be online, but remote access is not available, but when I check in Plex on the webrowser Remote access is enabled and it says “Fully accessible outside your network” there is also a little green padlock next to my server name and a tick next to Remote Access, I also manually specified port 32400 and forwarded it in the router and Secure Connections is set to preferred.

I’m using two routers if that makes any diffference - a Vodaphone one supplied by the ISP just to get broadband but with everything disabled on it, connected to an Asus router which has everything connected to it both cabled and wireless.

I’ve tried:

Signing out then in to Plex in the webrowser
Disabled then enabled the Alexa skill in the Alexa app
Turned off remote access then turned it on again,
Removed port forwarding and the manually specified port
Turned off the firewall on the Vodaphone router

Any ideas?

Cheers

Sounds like you have tried most options, mine was doing the same but I realised it was still importing the music library from my NAS. I stopped the Plex app running on the NAS and started it again and mine seems to work internally after that, still unable to stream to my iPhone outside my home though.

Are the Plex “server” and Alexa Echo device on the same subnet? Specifically, is the server listening on the same subnet as the Alexa Echo devices?

My server has been working fine as well for a very long time…but in the last week it stopped. Not sure if it’s the latest update to the plex server, but my Echo Dot’s repeat back the command and nothing happens on the Plex server side.
