Accessing Drobo through Plex Media Server

Having issues trying to run movie files ‘mp4’ through Plex media server whereby the error message says file unavailable! This has only happened recently and have been using Plex for a number of years now without any issues until recently where my movie files located on my Drobo had shown up in the library view as unavailable! I have read the technical forum articles and tried some options but they do not fix my issue. My Drobo is accessible and I can play the movie files outside Plex directly from Drobo, I have removed some movie files form Drobo and have set these up on my Mac hard drive and can play these under a new library through Plex, I have even deleted my Drobo libraries from Plex and have tried to re-instate these but no files show within the library and the scan is very quick! Grateful for any assistance

I have exhausted all options through the forums and would greatly appreciate a response to help guide me through this issue.

Have you provided permissions?

Hi, Yes permissions have already been applied

Reset the SMC

Sorry, not familiar with the term SMC!

You shut down your Server, then unplug your computer for 30 seconds or longer. Plug it back in and start up again.

System Management Controller

Ok, Tried the shut down and unplugged all cables from Drobo to Mac for over 1 min then plugged all back in, powered up and am still finding the same issue. I’m unable to pick up the movies from my drobo when trying to create a new Library, Very frustrating!

Hi, not sure if you received my previous message;

Ok, Tried the shut down and unplugged all cables from Drobo to Mac for over 1 min then plugged all back in, powered up and am still finding the same issue. I’m unable to pick up the movies from my drobo when trying to create a new Library, Very frustrating!

Are you able to provide any further support for this specific issue?

I’m not clear if issue is with all files or just mp4s. You server is running on the drobo correct? ( not your Mac)

Hi, I only play movie files and have all my movie files (MP4) located under Drobo/Movies and had set up Drobo to access this location as a library yet when it scans for files it runs through very quickly and does not pick anything up from that location. I have also tried setting up a library through my Mac Hard drive and this works no problem!
All my movie files within Drobo will play direct from their location, just not in Plex.
The issue has only developed over the last few Months and have tried all options to get Plex to recognise my Library within Drobo to no avail.
Grateful for any support you can provide.

Would you mind sharing your server logs.

Hi, Server Logs attached as requested
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-07-13_20-25-40.zip (1.0 MB)

OK so your Server runs on your Mac and the content is on your drobo? How are you mounting the drobo drive(s) on your mac?

I see files like this but this looks like a file that is on your Mac not the Drobo.

“…/Movies/Films/Harry Potter 05 The Order of the Phoenix.mp4”

Yes, in order to play my MP4 files I need to copy then paste into the hard drive of my Mac, I believe the link you show is an example of that otherwise I am unable to play files direct from my Drobo unlike previously when I had no issues. When I switch on Drobo my Mac recognises it as an additional drive and this is what I had set up as a library although as mentioned the library is not loading with films from my Drobo, only from locations on my Mac HD.
