Add a new library type: like tv movies, but with full movie info on the episode level

I have a couple of collections of individual movies. Currently I have each of them in their own movie Library, which works fine. However it would be nice if I could somehow combine them into one library without turning those libraries into “TV Series”.

Another way of putting it:
I would like to have a “TV Series” on steroids, where each individual episode is actually a movie, including all the goodness movies have: more metadata, fanart and poster.

An exmaple: I have two kids who make movies, currently I keep their movies into separate libraries. What I would like to have in plex is a structure like this:

Library: kid movies
kid a
— movies 2014
— --- my_first_movie
— --- — my_first_movie.mp4
— --- — my_first_movie-fanart.jpg
— --- — my_first_movie-poster.jpg
— movies 2015

So it is a bit like series (with the seasons being the years, or so), but each episode (my_first_movie) is a full-blown movie and not limited to the episode metadata.

You may want the extended personal home series scanner and its accompanying metadata agent.

Thanks for that tip, I gave it a try.

It still presents the movies as episodes, not as movies. There is a huge difference in metadata between a complete movie and an episode. Also with a episode, the movie poster is not shown, in stead it shows the episode thumb.

So my request remains open. It should actually be something like a grouped view on movies.

It appears to me that what you really want is an old favorite: movie subgroups/collections. Like a subfolder in a normal movie library where you can amass e.g. all James Bond movies or all Star Wars etc.

there is an existing feature request for this:

Thanks @OttoKerner for the hint. I have added my “Like” to that thread. Going to keep my fingers crossed.
