There have been several times i have run across a movie that plex just refuses to sync with. No matter what combination i use. making sure it matches exactly with TheMovieDB. Yet no results or continues to try to sync to the wrong movie even though nothing in the manual search resembles that. Most recently this is now happening with Stephen King’s IT. For years i had it listed as a Movie. TheMovieDB has it listed as a Movie, yet plex refuses to see it that way. it thinks its “Pet Sematary”. Changing the title under search along with the year, does not work. Most streaming services out there include a feature to also search by the MovieDB ID number. Radarr, Emby, Jellyfin and many more. Plex is supposed to the biggest and the best. Yet they lack such a simple IMPORTANT feature…
If you have the IMDB ttnumber you can use that with the fix match…
Just use it instead of the movie name…
that works sometimes. But i dont always agree with how IMDB organizes its shows. Also for the miniseries “IT”, IMDB shows it as just that… a miniseries, but tmdb and every other database has upgraded it to “Movie”. Plex has been able to see this miniseries as a movie automatically for many years, but just a few weeks ago it now wont link it with themoviedb. I would like to be able to use tmdb ID instead of the IMDB ID.
You can do that 100%… change the agent for the manual match to The Movie Database and enter their movie ID in the search field… done.
You will however be out of luck with regards to “It” – apparently all (most) the platforms have found some consensus that this is indeed not a movie but a tv (mini) series.
