I think there should be a way to not allow auto play from content from my server or at the least have a limit to how many episodes can auto play without user input. I have a few users who put on sitcoms in bed and it auto plays all night wasting my bandwidth. I have asked them to turn it off on their end, one user complied but not sure if it was an update or not but they are back to 10 episodes playing between 1230am to 6am while asleep. and the other said they couldn’t figure out how to turn it off.
You could warn them and then if they continue to be a problem, boot them off your server.
yea it gets old though, constantly having to reach out people. because it seems just like with the low default of 720 at 2mbs I would ask a user to change their setting then when plex updates on a device most settings revert back to default. I also have this issue in my own home, I know I have turned it off on all devices in my house because 1. i just dont like it and 2. my kids will walk away from the tv with shows still playing but i noticed somehow half the tvs in my house are auto playing again. I dont want to have to nanny my users, I would just like more control of my server
I get that but the way I look at it is if I allow you to view my content, you must not abuse that privilege (and I would never add anyone I would not feel comfortable borrowing the original DVD/Blu-Ray I ripped the content from).
I am not obligated to provide this service at any Service Level and it can be revoked at any time, per my discretion.
Abuse the privilege, you get dropped. No discussion.
