Add ability to edit DVR recording quality of each individual program (bitrate, audio) separately.

This would be similar (for those that remember) to the days of VHS tapes where you could set the quality of the recording which would determine how much recording time, or the tape, would be used for that recording. Would be nice to have something like this for the Plex DVR in scheduling shows recording. Some way to set maybe bitrate, audio or other factors that would determine file size and quality of playback. The issue I bring this up for is that not all broadcasters send the data at the same size and while one channel as things are now would play fine, another piping out a huge bitrate would bog down the best systems in playback. If we could modify each individual program we set to record, this would help us get the best recording for playback eliminating issues caused by oversized data streams from broadcasters.

Amen to this (though for different reasons than you). I have an HDHomeRun Extend, which can transcode video at different qualities right in the device. There is a setting in Plex where you can change this to whatever quality you want but it’s a global setting. It would be nice if it was kind of like the commercial removal thing where there is the default setting that is used for everything, but you can also go into each scheduled show and set it the way you want. Then if I was recording something for my kids (and they’re just going to watch it later on their Kindle) I could set it at a really low quality. If I was going to record something for myself and wanted to make sure it looked good, I could set the transcoder accordingly right in the schedule options.

I completely agree with this. I primary use Plex for OTA recording and playback via Chromecast or Roku. I have serious buffering issues because my processor is just too slow to keep up with the 10gb file for a short 1hour program
