When using tuners that do not have native transcoding, Plex has an option to automatically transcode these MPEG2 sources to H264. Unfortunately, the default CRF setting often results in ridiculously high bit rate transcodes.
Please add global and per-scheduled-recording options to adjust the CRF (quality) per source resolution, and options to set the quality (similar to the sync selections) automatically reducing resolution of the recording depending on the selection.
(HD transcodes will generally need a higher CRF (lower quality) than SD transcodes. The current default of, I believe 16, is often too low a CRF for HD recordings, resulting in insane bit rates – sometimes exceeding the rate of the original mpeg2 stream. Even just a global advanced setting to adjust the CRF per source resolution would be extremely helpful.)
