Ideally there would be the ability to configure the number of shows to autoplay before stopping (e.g. how Netflix handles autoplay). Barring that, there should be a setting to disable autoplay at the server level.
There are many times when users fall asleep while watching a show and needlessly waste bandwidth while content continues to stream all night. This also is problematic for keeping track of your progress through a show.
If you use PlexPy and can install the python-PlexAPI then you can try this script. Instructions for setup are at the top of script.
Here is the description:
Limit number of plays of TV Show episodes during time of day. Idea is to reduce continuous plays while sleeping. If user is not asleep and would like to continue watching, they’ll just need to wait ~20 seconds before continuing.
Please let me know if it works for you and I’ll add it to the repo in my signature.
Any progress on this to control from the server? My son will watch an episode and fall asleep and it will play forever. He is doing this remotely and I don’t really want my ISP to see me uploading for 8 to 10 hours at a time or have my cpu working all this time. Please add a feature to limit the number of episodes that can be autoplayed!!!
thank you!
Please add this feature for Plex server. Rather than being 1st line support for the users I’ve shared my Plex with, I’d rather turn this off for all at det server. I run PMS on a Synology NAS and don’t fancy adding complexity like scripts or cron jobs.
