Can you tell me why you don’t support AC3 sound in your application? AC3 sound is not new and exists for many years now.
Can you tell me why your player don’t support ac3 and dts? almost all videos found online are in ac3 sound format. The android app is useless…
The devices them selves need to support it, the codec needs to be on the device and that codec be available for apps to use. or they need to support passthrough properly so the tv or receiver the device is connected to can be sent the stream to decode.
Can you please elaborate more. I am mostly interested in how to find out what/whether a device has AC3/DTS support. This support depends on hardware, software, or it’s simply a license thing.
When using android phone, many times I see the transcoding reason to be the lack of audio codec support.
I use multi-channel AC3 audio all the time, in movies or in multi-channel music (which I convert to essentially ‘music video’ movies for streaming with Plex). AppleTV supports this beautifully, as long as there is a video track (which can just be a tiny, dim, static jpeg converted to a video stream). So I know this works.
