No Sound when playing video with EAC3 audio or AC3 audio

When I play videos with audio in EAC3 or AC3 format, there is no sound because my Android TV is quite old and doesn’t support these audio formats. However, why didn’t it trigger server-side transcoding? Both video and audio were played directly. I want the audio to be transcoded on server.

In the Plex app:

Settings → Advanced → Passthrough = Disabled

or

Settings → Advanced → Passthrough = Optical.
You will then see another choice, Optical Encodings.
You can then enable/disable AC3 and DTS.

Howerver, in tv mode, there is no such options… Also I can’t change to mobile mode on my tv box.

Your box runs Android mobile, not Android TV.

I’ve no experience with those.

Hopefully someone else can assist.

Also consider getting a new device that runs Android TV, such as Chromecast with Google TV.
