Add age/film rating for the UK

Can you add the age/film ratings for the UK please.

when looking under 'restrictions' on users to control content for kids things like tv17 or NC-17 doesnt make mucg sense to us over in the UK, just like the channels that are done by area, can the ratings be done like this so other countries have a better chance of using the age restirctions.

Also when the plex looks online for film/ tv into can it retireive the age info so they dont have to be set manually per film.  I'd also like to see this feature for music too as some music is 18+ or contains strong language that i would like to restrict from my kids.

thanks

Sometimes i get UK ratings, but most of the time not. I spent a bit of time and went through and changed them to the format gb/12A etc which then uses the BBFC style certs.

The ratings come from the agent source. So if you want uk ratings, you need to make sure the source has those ratings. If you’ve set your language settings appropriately pms will get the ratings for your language if they are there, otherwise they default to US ratings. Not much plex can do if the ratings don’t exist.

Mine is set to UK, but you're right, if the cert for UK isn't listed then you get US.

The reason for that is that television in the UK does not have ratings as it does in the USA and other countries, and therefore there is nothing for it to match up against. It would appear for what it can it uses the USA TV Parental Guidelines ratings for the show

This of course makes little sense to a British parent used to British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) ratings and worse unless the TV show has been aired in the USA (which is quite a lot of material) it won't have a rating at all. Even films are spotty on whether they have a BBFC rating, so I checked everything manually when I added it to the library to make sure it had a BBFC rating.

What I have done with my TV shows is to manually add BBFC ratings based on the DVD's releases to the TV shows. As pretty much any content you are going to be able to load up into the library has been released on DVD and/or BlueRay it will have a BBFC classification. If you don't have the DVD to hand you can generally look it up on Amazon. However I can't see that this could easily be automated.

Fortunately you can add ratings for TV shows at the show level so you don't have to add ratings for individual episodes. Unfortunately some shows have different ratings for different seasons and currently there is no way to add a rating at a season level, and worse still if you do rate individual episodes the whole show picks up the highest rating of an individual episode.
