Not entirely true… Anime agents are probably going to need to be different, since most anime isn’t tracked by theTVDB or other agents very well. Having said that, though… Setting up Anime as a TV show and setting an Anime agent up as the first used agent for that library is the best way to make things work, I’ve found.
There really is no reason to create another library type though. Apart from metadata agents, anime doesn’t function any differently from TV shows. There are episodes organized into seasons, etc. TBH I have a TV library set up for anime and I just use TVDB and it’s fine.

What do you mean by that?
Scanning my Anime library doesn’t take any longer than scanning my normal series library.
(less than 1 minute)
Anime is not only TV series… there are also Anime movies, so you have two options:
- Two top sections: “Anime Series” and “Anime Movies”, which are, in fact, just two movies and tv shows libraries with custom scraper (although I never had an issue with my anime and TMDB/TVDB)
- one section with mixed anime TV shows and anime movies (and OVA of course). That’s going to be super confusing IMO

as i use myanimelist agent and it messes with tv shows eg invader zim for cartoons 
2021 clean-up: can be implemented using tv-show / movie libraries (depending on content)
