I would like to be able to see the current show status "Continuing" or "Ended" when looking at the show information as well as be able to filter on this information.
Thanks,

Yes it is available at thetvdb :) Currently I look at sickbeard to figure out if it is ended, but trying to get all the info to one location :)
I use TV Rename for this but would be very nice to have it in Plex instead.
Actually...been rethinking here, and is sadly retracting my vote here, due to the simple fact, that it would be a static entry in the Plex database, and as such, look @ the following:
You are having some episodes of a TV show, and the status is running....
Then the show get's canceled, and due to that, the flag never get's updated.....leaving it incorrect, and can only be updated with a force update.
As such, I don't think this would ever work
/T
And funny enough...in the only forum where it matters, you can't unlike a post......
Ninja's?

Really?
I liked it and then when I got the bottom of the thread saw your other post and scrolled back up and clicked on the Unlike button

I guess I've been put in a cage by Plex.....
No such button for me!

LOL,
What could you have done wrong to be able to like but not to unlike?

My guess, is a browser issue, and not my from time to time "tempered" posts.
Running Firefox 27.0 on OpenSuse

Do remember, that if you did this to test my problem, to like again, unless my statement made you change your mind ;-)

Scary.....It is my account here.....Just tried on Crome running on Win7Pro 64 bit, and still no unlike.....
I was kinda joking when saying I was put in a cage here, but :D
Ninja's....Please respond here, cuz this is indeed spooky

Why would the flag never get updated. Are you telling me that Plex never refreshes they content from thetvdb.com? They use our API and I am pretty sure that they update the content when things changed on our side. Actually I know this happens, as a show can come in with a description of Episode 12, and then a few days later it gets updated to a new description because someone updated it on thetvdb.com site. The data is not stale after the first import.
If a show is marked as ended on thetvdb we son't stop updating that show. If someone makes a change the meta data gets updated. I never said that once it was marked as ended that Plex should stop updating the data.

When you as a user add new contents, you scan it.
Like this:
I love Stargate SG-1
I have all episodes in season 1, and part of season 2
When I add a new episode to season two, that one get's tugged in, but if all above it already exists, it's left untouched, and that's IMHO the way it should be, to ease the workload
And If I stop adding to SG-1, the flag would never be updated.

And adding to self here:
Metadata is pulled down when adding new stuff, or doing a "Forced Update", and as such, not real time

And yes
If this is the case this is a horrible design. There is an API to show only the showids updated in the last x days. If someone changes a show title I would expect my library to be updated at some point in the day or two following that. I have 3 shows that are showing a generic name. I have updated the description at thetvdb.com I will bet in the next day or so that this new title will be in my library.
If this is the case this is a horrible design.
I hear you here, but sadly disagree.
I got a library of +60 TV-Shows, and if I had to go to your database, every time I entered a TV-Section, it would kill my PMS.
But when that's said, here's what I suggest.
Create a new RFE, asking for the following:
Allow the Ended/Running status to be exposed in PMS, and also add this to the new scheduler service, so PMS every night, if req. by it's Master, would check each show, and update the flag if needed.
And the clue here is to only check the flag, and nothing else....
That way it'll be fast, and off peak hours
If you do so, then I'll like the new post as well
/T
And just adding here....I'm not Plex, nor Ninja....but never seen scanners/agents run by themself, and as such, doubt that an auto-update will take place

So first of all I never said to scan thetvdb every time you enter a show that is crazy. It should be a scheduled task, and I believe that this work is already done. If you schedule it, plex does refresh metadata every 3 days, as seen in the attached options gui.
So I go back to my original request. Add show status to the DB and update that information when Plex refreshes the meta data..
