Add Duplicate to Advanced Filters so Multiple same track results can be Filtered

See → Build a Smart Playlist based off Track Rating with secondary filter to remove Duplicates? for context.

Currently there is no way to apply a secondary filter to remove duplicate tracks from the same artist.

Scenario:

  1. Rate one single track you know is in multiple albums on your plex server, just rate one. In this example, Piano Man from Billy Joel which is in 4 different albums.
  2. Now create a advanced filter to find all tracks with that rating.

Result:
What happens is that four tracks are returned from the advanced search/filter as that song appears in 4 albums.

Desired Result:
A way to add a secondary filter to just return one of these tracks and remove the duplicates.

BTW… I’m unable to vote on my suggestion due to the 5 vote rule !

I suppose this is currently mainly a music topic… or are you also considering deduplicating manually other media types (e.g. manually split movies/shows or different movie editions)?

Music, at least that’s my use case. Really scoped to tracks would be best IMO.

Pretty sure tv and movies have duplicate filters already.

You can filter for duplicate items (e.g. movies with different quality versions). There’s no option to de-duplicate results as in “collapsing” them to 1 entry if they have the same GUID.

Sure. Let’s keep it simple as that’s always best for feature requests.

Keep it scoped to duplicate tracks.
