Add "Netflix Style" Playlist for entire show runs or mark as favorite?

I like to binge watch entire runs of shows. On netflix you can add a show to a list, but on plex when you make a playlist it just adds all the individual episodes.

maybe we can mark different series as “favorites” so we can remember which show runs we wanted to watch? or let us make a playlist of entire series instead of just episodes?

I know i can create a collection for them, but that is 1) tedious and 2) i don’t need to share that list with all of my users. Thanks!

Why don’t you go to the top level of that show and press Play?
Wherever you abort playback, when you return later to your Plex client you will see the next episode in “OnDeck”, waiting for you to resume.

a few reasons…

  1. on deck is supposed to be for shows i’m currently watching and would like to resume
  2. i want to make a list of shows that i will watch in the future, and putting the shows all in on deck would clutter it up
  3. these are shows that may take weeks for me to start watching
    and
  4. shows that are on deck get taken off the list after a certain time period (which is a function i really like)

on netflix my “to watch” list has a bunch of different shows that i may or may not immediately watch, but i put them there so i know what i can watch next. i’m just saying it would be nice to have, for lack of a better term, a favorites list for full series of shows, and not just individual episodes.

You could make a collection called Favorites, To Watch or whatever and add or remove shows as you please. I know it is not as simple as clicking a button and I have nothing against your request just mentioning as something you can do now

I think what you want is better described as a “Queue” or a “list of bookmarked items to watch”.

@BigWheel yeah i’ve found workarounds (basically making one playlist for each show). i don’t want to make a whole collection because there would be shows going in and out of it and my users don’t need to see that stuff if they are looking through collections. and i appreciate you saying that, thank you for the suggestions!

@OttoKerner yes basically a “favorites” list that you could use. like having a little heart or something next to a show so you could mark the series as something you want to be able to find easily. this would be a personal thing, so every family member could have their own lists. it could work just like the playlist function, and be available on each of your shared servers?
