Summary:
I’d like to be able to add episodic media to a “Favorites” list so I can more easily find things I like to watch. By default, it would appear after On Deck and Recently Added, and would link to the main item when selected.
More detail:
This is primarily about TV shows. While I have music, movies, etc, TV shows are the main episodic format I use.
I love my On Deck list. I use it all the time to see what episodes I have to watch next. However, over time, some shows will drop off the list because I haven’t watched them for a while, or I’ve watched a bunch of other stuff and there’s a limit on the number of shows that appear in the On Deck. And then there are the times like today where randomly my On Deck list reset and the only shows that appear there now are partially watched episodes, and none of the “next” episodes in the shows I’m currently actively watching are listed.
I also appreciate Playlists. But adding a TV show to a Playlist adds all of the episodes to that playlist. And it doesn’t show you which ones you’ve watched and which ones you haven’t.
So, what I’d like is a feature that allows me to mark TV shows as Favorites (or unmark them when I’m done). The list would appear in the home page under On Deck and Recently Added, and have the same visual format as other lists where it has a number indicating the number of episodes unwatched, and clicking on an entry would take you to that particular show’s page where you can navigate through the episodes and find the ones you want to watch.
This is not the same as On Deck because there may be shows you love rewatching. Or shows that are on hiatus and so don’t pop up on On Deck when they resume. Or shows you want to manually mark as being important to you.
And as for my parents and others less familiar with technology - this would be more helpful to them than On Deck. They could set the shows they know they want to watch amongst the myriad shows I have and not be asking questions about why a particular show isn’t showing (because they’ve watched all the episodes already).
