I believe having the option to save a copy of all library metadata locally would be tremendously useful. I find that when using the mobile plex player with slow connection speeds, (throttled mobile data connection/out of data) the app struggles to play even downloaded content because it first has to fetch the metadata.
I have scoured the plex options on android and have found nothing to remedy this. Thank you for reading, and for the time of the developers!
I suppose what you describe is already discussed in this existing suggestion (though it’s a bit dated and hasn’t any votes at the moment). If so, I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes and closing this thread as a duplicate.
(8yrs ago! ) I see where you’re coming from! While I also experience the scrolling jank that they describe, I would prefer permanent/persistent metadata storage instead of it being cached each session. Maybe those are the same things and I am mistaken. If they are, feel free to mark this as a duplicate, although this would solve both issues!
The existing suggestion doesn’t really have a restriction to only store/cache metadata per session. It’s about an option to avoid permanent loading from the server – which implies the data needs to be available in some form on the client (and updated as it’s updated on the server etc.)
