Add TV Shows

Whenever I try to add TV Shows, I have to do the following:

TV Shows Folder ==> Show ==> Season

I follow the naming structure as recommended by Plex:

TV Shows
/Grey’s Anatomy
/Season 01
Grey’s Anatomy - s01e01.avi
Grey’s Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi
Grey’s Anatomy - s01e03.mp4

My question:

How do I add content to Plex so it found content better?

If I add a TV Show and let’s say that show has Season 4, if I choose the path as:

TV Show — Show

What will add on Plex is Season 4, but not the TV Show. What I have to do is:

TV Show — Show — Season

This will detect the show.

Does this make sense?

What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting I have to complete?

Your TV show library should have just the root directory in it. For example:

D:\media v shows\

I have that as the directory where all TV shows are kept. As I add a new season/new show, I just put it in the proper location and then initiate a library scan. The shows are picked up.

How are you doing it?

Are you saying you add individual fodders under “Add folders to your library” within the edit mode of your library?

I have the same folder structure as you but I simply point my TV Show library to the high level “TV Shows” and PLEX will search all subfolders within it (Show / Season / Episodes) and find all media content accordingly.

I have it as follows:

D:\media v shows\Fear the Walking Dead\Season 3

When I go to “Add folders to your library” I have to go through the whole path on top in order for the show to add.

What I cannot do is go to “Add folders to your library” and add the path of:

D:\media v shows\

Make sense?

If I go to “Add folders to your library” and I add:

D:\media v shows\Fear the Walking Dead

On the Plex Web App as it’s scanning, I will get

Season 3

You do not have your library configured correctly. The directory should be d:\media v shows\. You should never add individual show directories to your library. You need to get your library squared away. Move everything out (ie: just remove the individual directories you have in your library),do a scan, then add only that directory to your library.

@kegobeer-plex and I are on the same page with the file structure. Just add the high level directory to your library and all will be well

Thank you both for your help. It worked as stated.

If you have any other libraries set up that way, make sure to fix them as well.
