Could use some help here, if anyone has figured this out…When I create a library, I open a folder location and can select one file at a time to add, but there are hundreds of them. How do I add the entire folder at once? And once the library is created, is it possible to delete only one or two movies? If it is, can anyone tell me how it is done? And finally, If I delete a library from Plex, does that delete the files from the hard drive as well? Thanks for your patience while I try to get around the learning curve!..(and at this point, I now have deleted the library without losing it from the hard drive, so that’s another question answered, if anyone could just clue me in to how to delete only selected files, that would be great…
Ok, stupid me!..I see now how to add the entire folder…
Plex made a deliberate decision to never touch/edit your files in any way. The one exception is the following:
This is how you configure Plex to allow deleting of individual files:
- In Settings > Server > Library Settings, enable the ‘Allow media deletion’ option.
When that option is enabled, the server Administrator, and only the Administrator, will have the option to delete individual media files. The Delete command will appear on the ‘…’ menu for any item.
If you are only looking to exclude certain files from the Library without deleting the actual media file, there is an advanced feature that you can use. (It’s “advanced” not because it’s dangerous, but because it’s kind of a hack, not part of the UI)
