Has anyone else experienced an issue where if you go to add a new folder to a library, it automatically removes (or does not display) already added folders?
To this end, I had a movie library with various directories:
o:\folder 1
o:\folder 2
Already scanned/indexed with metadata… ~3500 titles.
Then, when I went to add o:\folder 3, it appeared as if it were the only folder, so it removed already indexed media… I think this is an issue with the web client used to manage the library.
It is going through a mass-dump/rebuild…
Very annoying.
It’s possible that the Plex media database is corrupted because I’ve never seen that behavior before and I add/remove folders from my libraries every so often.
I am reluctant to think this is a DB issue.
I think it is something to do with the JavaScript that renders the “Manage Library” > Edit…> Add Folders Popup…
Sometimes when I navigate there, it has no folders listed… I click “Cancel” or “X”, then reload the page, and poof, they re-appear.
That sounds more like a cache issue, delete Plex Media server Cache
On a Windows PC, your cache is located in your user directory. Open an Explorer window and navigate to “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Caches\”
In the Caches directory there will be subdirectories for the various shows and movies you’ve been watching. You can delete the individual directories or all of them at once, it’s entirely up to you.
This happened to me too. Plex was not loading new movies I dropped in an already indexed folder. Went to manage libraries. Without seeing it was not showing any folders, I re-added the folder that was missing, and it went ahead and completely cleared my entire collection. I re-added all the missing folders, and now it is re-adding every movie I have, again, like its a new file. Unbelievable. I’ve added new folders and files many times without any issue. This is new. It also happened again when I went back to manage libraries, and refreshing my browser showed the folders again. This is a huge pain though. I had custom metadata for my libraries, high end processed thumbnails/clips… all gone now due to this bug. It is now scanning like 50 terabytes of files… and everything is a recently added movie now, so I can’t even keep track of what new movies added that I have on deck anymore. This is so upsetting!!! -____________-
