I’ve seen some versions of this question in old Reddit threads or forum posts, but they’re all quite old; but are there any plans to incorporate more data points to the library view?
Whether watching with a friend, or finding something for my daughter, it’s a minor point, but it’s a bit frustrating to have to click/select each movie to see the ratings and/or runtime. The filters are somewhat useful, but you can’t include more than one option (Sort By…and those fields aren’t available in the initial filter).
I’m wondering if something like this picture (3 Ninjas Kick Back) might be a feature that could be added.
You should already see additional details if you sort the library by a particular attribute (e.g. sorting by duration should include the duration, sorting by user/audience/critic rating should include that respective rating…).
At least on Plex Web there’s the option to use advanced filters.
Unfortunately, the advanced filters don’t contain the same options contained in “Sort By.” If I could “match any < 2 hours” or similar, then it’d be more useful.
The only thing I really use as a qualifier from the first filter is Genre. The more critical things for me personally are Critic/audience Ratings, Duration (both only in the Sort By), and Year, which is already contained in the library view anyways.
Adding an additional <div> as I did in my example, as it pulls from the database, doesn’t seem like it would be overly complicated, and there is already plenty of padding in the library view to add an additional row.
Even if they gave checkbox options for additional metadata fields or something.
EDIT - And additionally, this feature is already possible in Table View. It’s just a miss that it’s not available where it is even more useful alongside posters in Grid View (or even Detail View).
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to diminish your suggestion.
There’s so many suggestions, it’s easy to miss something or have a suggestion that’s describing the a different approach to achieve the same thing somebody else has already described elsewhere. I’m mainly trying to better understand what you’re trying to achieve – especially if there’s already some means to cover some aspects of that use case (not necessarily how it’s to be implemented or how complicated it’ll be to implement).
