Adding some extra functionality to RasPlex, such as displaying a webpage

I was just wondering if anyone has modified their RasPlex installation with any extra functionality? For example, I’m running RasPlex on the TV in my bedroom, and I’m thinking about making a dashboard website that could display a bunch of information when I wake up, such as weather, news, my calendar events for the day, stocks, etc. etc.

Is there a Plex channel or plugin I could install that would let me view a website with a custom URL? I’m probably just going to write something that shuts down Plex Home Theater and starts up Chromium in kiosk mode. But it would be cool if I could easily switch between this website and Plex Home Theater.

You won’t be able to install chromium, no apt-get or dpkg, file system is read only and SquashFS, you can multi boot using Berryboot, that way you would have Rasplex and Raspbian running the Cromium web browser, you would continually have to reboot to run either.

Ask in the Channels sub forum, if there’s nothing there put in a feature request, someone might take it up as a project , or if you feel inclined have a go at making a Channel yourself.
