I have some web shows (like Extra History) that behave like a TV Show (with seasons and episodes, because I like to refer back to them, but they aren’t officially TV Shows. If I want them on my Plex server, how should I add a web show so it acts like a TV Show. Just add it as Home Video, or what?
There’s no yes/no answer to your question.
Generally it makes sense to check if a show (tv or web) is listed in the repositories used by Plex. With your example that’s the case… “Extra History” is listed on both The Movie Database as well as TheTVDb:
Therefore you can organize them like every other tv show.
If you find a show that’s not listed you an either join one of those platforms to create the entries or go with a tv-show library and the Personal Media Shows agent. This will organize your library as a tv-show (with shows/seasons/episodes) but won’t rely on online repositories to contribute metadata. Instead you can go with embedded metadata (e.g. for mp4/m4v/mov files) or enter the metadata yourself in Plex.
