Plex wants TV movie (which will eventually be a series) to be listed in Movies, not TV Shows

Server Version#: 1.28.1.6104-788f72488
Player Version#: 5.44.6 (Plex for Samsung), #1.47.1.3086-6c3d964f (Plex for Windows)

I want something added to my “TV Shows” listing, but Plex won’t list it there. Plex wants it in the “Movies” listing.

How can I make Plex recognize it in TV Shows?

Thanks.

If it only shows up as a movie that’s what TVDB and IMDB decided. Plex just follows their metadata with no choice in the matter.

If you just want it to show up, you can always try to add a tv show “like” format to the naming.

Like 'Top Gun s01e01.mp4 or something like that. Obviously it’s not going to have any metadata attached to it but you might be able to see it at least.

Some things will actually work in both a tv and movie library but it’s uncommon. What’s the title you’re trying to match?

This was a TV movie on Lifetime my wife watched recently that apparently is going to be an ongoing series of TV movies. “Buried in Barstow”. I believe it came out in June.

And, after starting this topic, it dawned on me to try adding S01E01 to the filename. Worked just as you said. I just grabbed a “poster” off Amazon’s site and attached it. No metadata like you said, but it’ll come one day.

Tom Selleck’s “Jesse Stone” Lifetime series of TV movies shows up as a TV series, so it’s probably just a matter of time before “Buried” does, too. One show doesn’t make a series.

Thanks for the help.
