Adjust Skip Forward and Back Length on Remote

I have a MCE Remote I use to control Open PHT on my Win 7 machine. Everything works well, except that the skip forward and back buttons (Usually 30 seconds) are mapped to the right and left arrow pad buttons instead of the skip forward and back button that I use in WMC.

I solved that problem by editing the remote.xml file in the PHT folder and adding it to the Roaming OpenPHT folder under C:\Users. Now I can use the buttons I want to skip forward and back, but the amount they skip is drastically different than when I press the left and right arrow buttons.

I used this thread as reference, but as I am now on Open PHT I thought I would post here.

I double checked to make sure that the xml used the StepForward/Back and not the BigStepForward/Back. Should the XML tags in the AdvancedSettings.xml match the Remote.xml file exactly? If anyone has any experience messing with this I would appreciate the help

This functionality has changed in OpenPHT 1.6.0.

Ned, thanks for pointing me to that document. I have spent the last few weeks trying different edits to my remote key mappings, and adding entries to the advancedsettings.xml file, but I cannot get the changes to take effect for my remote.

The directional keys left and right do not respond to the changes to seek steps as the Kodi instructions indicate. The stay locked at 30s forward and 15s back. I have tried putting the advance settings file in the remote keymappings folder and also in the base plexdata folder.

Additionally, when I try to remap the Stepforward and Stepbackward to the pageup and page down keys I get no effect.

I also tried to assign the seek command specifically to the page up and down buttons, but again, no effect.

I believe I am editing the correct remote buttons, since the used to skip track or playlist item, but now do nothing.

Any other hints you can provide would be helpful.

Thanks.

Give me a couple of days, what type of remote are you using?

Thanks Ned, I am using the Inteset INT-422.

I found the answer -

This remapped the key presses just like I wanted. I can also use the methods from your Kodi link to adjust the skip lengths.
