I love Plex and how it evolved over time. However I can’t fully transition into Plex ecosystem without this important feature and I keep using my PC for viewing.
When using MPC-HC player it’s possible to use ctrl+ num pad to adjust frame position.
This comes handy in movies that are not full screen, the movie frame can then be shifted up, which leaves black box at the bottom for subtitles.
Now I understand that MPC-HC is local PC players and implementing feature that might be easily achievable on such player might be very difficult to do in Plex on multiple clients, however I don’t think it’s impossible. I wouldn’t mind if this was done on server side with trans coding or client side with whatever tricks are available.
Hi mate, I just came here to post this exact idea.
There’s literally no reason this isn’t already standard behavior other than “that’s not how we do things”
Use cases:
For OLEDs and projectors it allows you to shift the duty on to pixels that are underutilized - thereby increasing device lifespan
For people with soundbars that are just barely out of the way it gives you a little more clearance when you need it
Makes subtitles easier to read
Makes subtitles less intrusive
Is a USP that Plex would have that nobody else does
Plex, you need to do some actual research on what makes people fall into your ecosystem. I’m confident that whilst “discover” might pull you some new users, it’s features like these that will lock people into your ecosystem.
