Yea, I get it - as do the other users in this thread.
When you step away from the desktop - like crawl into bed or something stupid like that - and you happen to see you’ve got a crap poster for something you just added, or forgot to stick it in a collection - it would be nice to just pull up the phone sitting right there and handle it.
What happens when you come out of the server ‘area’, go downstairs, in your not so mobile as you used to be way you do things now and see something you’d like to do real quick?
Oh, if your young - like you used to be 50 years ago - you bound up those steps like your pants are on fire. What if you’re old and brittle? A post-it note stuck to our forehead?
I get it. It ain’t rocket science. Everything works from a browser in the hosted app, but it’s a magnum PITA. It would be nice to have an interface for a phone that wasn’t a PITA. <—just in case we needed it for something.
What’s not to understand? Why do you need to create a plausible scenario roadmap when it’s as plain as the nose on our faces? Are we paying for feature requests now? Are we only allowed to make feature requests that make sense to someone important?
I wasted a vote on it - 'cause I think it’s important!
Would love to have it!
The Sooner The Better!
Great Idea!
I think the natural place to add these settings would be in the Plex Dash app. Plex seems to be heading anyway towards a strategy of separate apps for separate functions rather than an all-in-one approach: a Video player (the Plex app), a Music player (Plex Amp) and a server admin app (Plex Dash). Personally, I think this is the right approach.
Well, that’s not going to happen.
If Plex thinks it’s Cool enough it’ll happen without a feature request and if they don’t think it’s Cool - a million votes won’t matter in the slightest.
I think it’s Cool.
I’ll blow a vote on it 'cause none of the others ones are doing anything…lol
Being able to control it from on the go can be quite useful. I use a pivpn to “be at home” combined with the use of Remote Desktop. But using the Web Browser on my Pi is painfully slow with enourmous lags due to the nature of Remote Desktop, and opening Plex Web on my phone isn’t much better (unoptimized). The Android App should be the way to go for me.
As for phablets who knows? In 2014, noting that Phablets had overtaken laptops and desktops in global sales. So this feature request has plenty merit, it should be seriously considered.
I’ve got a decent sized phone - an LGV501 or some nonsense. It’s the ‘upgrade’ Verizon GAVE me when I refused to upgrade the last free phone they gave me when I wouldn’t upgrade the previous - well, you see where this is going - and has been for the last 17 years with no end, other than mine, in sight…lol
Yea, it would be nice to use the equipment my carrier is giving me…
Before social distancing and stay at home, it was easy to notice the small screen take over. It’s everywhere and rapidly increasing. The home phone, calculator, iPod, radio, walkman and many others are all gone. Even the simple Watch is in decline with these Dick Tracey gadgets.
If there’s an Android App Developer (under every rock, behind every tree) savvy enough to make an app do the same things a web page can do on the same device without issue…
I have a shiny new $5 bill I’ll trade for it on any App Store it’s on.
Sounds like a license to make money to me - I mean if Plex isn’t interested…
Agreed, I see it’s use very handy even with wifi. Family watching a Movie and for some reason the Movie summary was not correct or wanted to known the name of one of the minor actors without disturbing the viewing experience for everyone. A tablet is a power tool, with admin tools it would be amazing. Varys pro and Plex Dash are great but can not do everything required.
