Dash is already in a good direction, it just needs to get more administrative features.
Scanning already exists in dash and I have seen fix match (automatically), but cannot find the latter anymore
And auto fix match is kinda useless. If it would have matched the right one, then there was no need for fixing the match.
Edit: found fix match, only present in search mode (why?)
Edit2: it is not that useless, but manually inputting the parameters would be great.
Edit3: added optimisation
My personally, I would like to have the ability to share my connection with friends and family from my mobile phone (Android).
I would also like to be able to manage the user password/PIN and add and remove shared collections.
Edit a show/movies details, particularly age rating. Some shows do not have a rating on thetvdb and will then not show up for my managed kids user, whose content is restricted per age rating.
Thatâs expected, as the list is a âwhitelistâ. You wouldnât want your kids to have access to an Unrated tv show by default.
What does this mean for this threadâs topic? Do you want to edit the show in question, to add a rating of your own?
Because you can already edit the userâs sharing permissions in the regular mobile app.
I donât understand the necessity for specifying particular settings, that is just over complicating it
Again, wouldnât adding all of them be easier? Or asking too much?
Different people use different settings all the time. Example @Coxeroni wants to help better manage content for (I assume) his kids on mobile
I donât have kids watching my plex server so thatâs not relevant to likes of myself and many others, although I completely understand and agree with it. Whatâs the purpose of drilling down into specific settings rather than just not over complicating it with saying all the settings that are already present in plex Web?
Yep, performing the Plex Dance steps with one button push (other than moving the media in and out of Plex) is pretty cool (in Varys) but sadly I think is iOS only. Would be cool to see it in Plex Dash though.
What
I want to ask you guys something simple. When the video or audio is being transcoded the app shows the letters A and V in front of the movie. I wish the app showed the same detailed information as the expanded version of the web app.
Why: Audio: Because some of my movies have 2.0 and 5.1 audios of the same language and my family sometimes text me complaining that the movies keep buffering (my NAS isnât powerful enough to transcode in time). In this case, I could check if they were âwatchingâ the 5.1 version and ask them to change to the 2.0 track. These information are also useful when you have movies with the original and dubbed audio and you want to check which one is being used. Subtitles: basically the same idea. Some movies are dubbed but I still want to make sure the Forced subtitles are being used.
At this moment the only information I personally can extract from this app are:
Where are you seeing this? Information on if something is being Transcoded should be on the Playback Info page.
Iâm confused. There is no expanded version of Plex Web.
If the issue is the audio, then the video should not be transcoded. Transcoding audio is fairly low cpu intensive and your NAS should not have problems. If it canât handle transcoding audio, youâve got a really low powered device. If the video is transcoding, then there is something else going on.
Have you tried the new PlexDash app that was released recently.
Oh, then youâre off topic. This thread was referring to the current Plex for Android and iOS apps.
Thatâs part of the dashboard (for Plex Pass users), itâs not something different in Plex Web. Just want to make sure you get the terminology correct to avoid confusion.
Youâre gonna need to be more specific about the types of activities you want to be able to perform.
Fix matches for poorly named files
Change posters or other metadata
Trigger library scans
Tweak server settings
Monitoring transcoding (e.g. figure out why itâs doing it at all)
I will say that having a more mobile-friendly skin on the existing server web interface would probably do the trick, but having some (particularly the metadata management) built into the mobile client with links off (e.g. for the server settings) to the full web interface would be amazing.
I will echo previous comments that I often want to fix something small and would prefer to not need a desktop browser.
these are some of the features that should be added to the app.
change metadata, sometimes when I add an ew movie to plex, it will not have a nice poster, and I have to go to the web app from my phone or go to my desk and on on my computer and make the changes, it would be nice if right from the app I can make the changes. I know plex dash you can do that, but I rather not have to switch apps or have multiple apps on my phone.
Can you add some basic server management functions to the mobile client, because itâs really uncomfortable to temporarily manage the plex server when you go out, and mobile browsers canât display the plex server web pages very well. Can you add management functions to the mobile app?
