why do the ads lock up and i have to keep going back to the beginning of the show
It is just the world of ad supported streaming. Mostly it works OK but there really is too many points of failure for add supported streaming to work well.
Please state the type of Plex client app you are using
as well as the channel/movie/webshow or whatever you were watching.
