I am new to this, so please forgive me.
I get it, that Plex is a business. I know it is ad-supported.
However, my question is about the frequency and content of ads.
Honestly, I hardly ever watch Plex streaming on my Roku TV anymore. The ads have ruined it. I understand that there must be ads. But the frequency? Here’s how it usually works:
I turn the TV to Plex and I come in on a block of ads. Every single time. And it’s usually 2/3 or 3/4 or something. I don’t get 5 minutes of the show before it’s a block of ads again. And the number keeps increasing!
Top of the hour time is the worst. Ads. cold open of show. Ads. Opening credits. Ads. Then 2-3 minutes of show. Then ads. By this time, I give up.
Last night, I got a block of 12 ads in a row. When it came up “1 of 12”, I went back to Roku Channel. Normally, it’s about 6-8 in a row.
Honestly, the frequency of these huge blocks of ads is maddening. I literally forget what I was watching by the time the show comes back on, and not 5 minutes later - ads again.
And it’s the same ads over and over and over again.
I was a friend’s house last night, and I was amazed that she didn’t have this problem. No pass, nothing special. Ads in blocks of 2 or 3, and back to the show. And hardly any interruptions.
I can’t watch anything on Plex without the ad cuts right in the middle of a sentence, even, and never mind how offensive some of them are.
So, is there a way to control the ad content, or report offensive ones? Is there a way to reduce it? Because honestly, for me, Plex is unwatchable now.
Thank you.
