Right now Sync/Transcoding options are very simple and doesn’t even say what codec it is even using for anything. You may choose the bitrate and in the case of videos a bunch of resolutions, but that’s it, all in a single select menu.
This might be ok for non technical people, but it would be great to have at least an “advanced” menu button, that would allow to separately select the codec, nitrate and solution for both audio and video to have a more fine grained control over the transcoding process.
FFMPEG which is used by Plex supports tons of formats, and it’s a real waste that this cannot be used properly. So far it has been just frustrating to try to sync a h265 movie with my android device, without having Plex transcoding it to h264 because yes. The same goes for FLAC audio, that cannot be transcoded to AAC, etc etc… An optional advanced menu could solve this problem.
It would be great to hear some feedback on this from the developers.
