After update my server doesn't work

After update my server when I or some friend wants reproduce a TV Show or a Movie we are getting back this message:

The conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.
La conversion fallo. El transcodificador salió debido a un error.

Y hace unas horas me decia que el servidor no era suficientemente potente, pero no he cambiado nada y tiene 12gb de ram y 2gb/s de coexion

And a few hours ago it told me that the server was not powerful enough, but I have not changed anything and it has 12GB of ram and 2GB/s connection

And doesn’t work, I have disabled the transcoder since the server start work like 6 months ago.

Someone have a tip to fix it?

Thanks!!

This would cause the “server not powerful enough message” if the client is trying to transcode.

You really shouldn’t disable the transcoder unless you know exactly what you’re doing.

But without any server logs nobody can do much but speculate on what your problems may be.

Good afternoon,

I disabled it because I know what it is, I want to do direct play to the devices from the server just as it worked for a 6 months to a two weeks ago, but suddenly it stopped working without having changed any of the configuration.

That’s why I came to ask what it could be since I found the message: The conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error. when I do not have the conversion or the transcoder activated.

I can’t play anything without activating the transcode, but I don’t want that, thanks.

Is there a solution, how do I attach the server logs and what logs do you need?

@AtorPlex

Go into PMS in the browser.

Settings - Troubleshooting (lower left corner in the browser) - Download Logs (middle of screen)

It will give you a ZIP file

Let me show you a few of the things you need to look for in these logs.

Recommendations:

  1. Not sure why you set the PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_APPLICATION_SUPPORT_DIR to /home but it’s a BAD idea. If you need to do this, make a /home/plex directory and use that.

  2. Next, go through your permissions in Linux itself and confirm everything is properly writeable after you move APP_SUPP_DIR

Understanding the logs:

  1. ERROR clauses are hard errors but, depending on context (which takes time to understand) some are fatal and some aren’t. File permission errors of any kind are fatal. Transcoder related errors are fatal.

  2. SOME statements are “WARN” (Warning). Check out the error message text. Some warnings are bad and need fixing (like a certificate warning) because it will impact other parts of PMS.

thanks for the analysis,

Regarding the first point " 1. This is what you’re running; 1.32.7 , in LSIO docker, on a dual core ARMv8 (pi?)", I don’t understand what you mean, how should it be?

I will now get to work on the other points, but I don’t understand why it uses /home/cache if I haven’t configured it that way, I must investigate further.

And finally, thank you again. When I have this solved I will tell you if it works correctly again
